Game Introduction:

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 NSP is an action role-playing game (RPG) developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. It was released on December 1, 2017, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. The game is the third installment in the Xenoblade series and the sixth entry in the broader Xeno franchise.

Story and World:

The game takes place in a world called Alrest, an endless ocean of clouds where the remnants of civilization live on the backs of giant creatures called Titans. The player controls Rex, a young scrap metal collector, who encounters Pyra, a creature called Blade who grants him immense power. The two embark on a journey to find the legendary lost paradise of Elysium, humanity’s last refuge.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 NSP Gameplay:

Similar to previous games in the series, the player controls a main character within a team of three. The game features a new summoning system, allowing main characters to summon Blades—living creatures that act as weapons—to aid them in combat.

It also boasts an open world with a day-night cycle that influences in-game events, including quests, enemy strength, and item availability. Unlike previous games that featured a single, interconnected open world, this game takes place across multiple Titans, which players can travel between via fast travel.

Additional Content (DLC) was released throughout 2018, culminating in a full-fledged story expansion called Torna – The Golden Country, released in September of that year. This expansion takes place 500 years before the events of the main game and introduces new gameplay mechanics.

The New Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

An enhanced version of the game, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, was announced on June 9, 2026. It is scheduled for digital release on July 30, 2026, and a physical release on October 1, 2026.

• Smoother, clearer cinematic cutscenes.
